The Directorate of Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy (ISM&H) in the Union Territory of Puducherry functioned under this nomenclature from 01.04.2002 to 10.01.2024. Subsequently, as per Government orders, the Directorate was renamed as the Directorate of AYUSH with effect from 11.01.2024.
The AYUSH system encompasses Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, which focus on preventive, promotive and holistic healthcare. AYUSH systems play a significant role in improving public health through evidence-based traditional medicine, wellness promotion, lifestyle management and integrative healthcare services.
